If you're considering implementing or creating OER materials, this episode is for you! Listen with LOUIS podcast host Rob Stephens, who spoke with three guests about Creating OER, or Open Education Resources:
Emily Frank of LOUIS defines OER and talks about how and why LOUIS, a library consortium, does work in this area. Amelia Brister and Chresancio Jackson discuss their experiences working in a cohort to create OER textbooks.
What are OERs?
What are Open Educational Resources?
Open Educational Resources, or OER, are freely accessible and openly licensed texts or other digital assets. LCTCS faculty are currently working on creating OER courses to help reduce the financial burden for students by replacing traditional textbooks with quality OER. This will also help students be better prepared for their courses from Day One, as their resources will be freely available online.
